Panama’s 95-Octane Gasoline Drops Slightly as New Fuel Prices Take Effect Friday

What Happened

Panama will see a small adjustment in fuel prices starting Friday, April 17, after the National Energy Secretariat announced the new rates on Wednesday, April 15.

The price of 95-octane gasoline will fall by 3 cents per liter, moving from $1.26 to $1.23. The 91-octane gasoline price will remain unchanged at $1.17 per liter.

Low-sulfur diesel will edge up by 1 cent, rising from $1.36 to $1.37 per liter.

Why the Change Matters

Fuel prices in Panama are adjusted regularly based on international market conditions, and the latest change comes during a period of volatility in oil markets linked to the conflict in the Middle East. Even modest shifts in fuel prices can affect transportation costs, household budgets and operating expenses for businesses across the country.

For drivers who use 95-octane gasoline, the new pricing offers a small relief at the pump. At the same time, the increase in diesel may matter for freight operators, public transport and other sectors that depend heavily on that fuel.

When the New Rates Apply

The updated prices will remain in force until 5:59 a.m. on Friday, May 1, when the next fuel-price review is scheduled to take effect. Panama’s regular pricing updates are closely watched because they influence daily mobility and the broader cost of goods and services.

With the country’s fuel market tied to global oil trends, future adjustments will continue to reflect developments in international supply, demand and geopolitical conditions.
