What Happened
Panama City’s mayor’s office announced which public-facing facilities will operate on Friday, May 1, the Day of the Worker. Several popular destinations will remain open, including the Mercado de Mariscos, Mercado San Felipe Neri, Los Pueblitos, the Summit Botanical Garden and Sabores de El Chorrillo.
At Los Pueblitos and the Summit Botanical Garden, visiting hours will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sabores de El Chorrillo will serve customers from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Market Schedules
Mercado San Felipe Neri will keep its regular schedule of 5 a.m. to 4 p.m., while its fondas will operate from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Mercado de Mariscos will also maintain its usual hours, with retailers open from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., wholesalers from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m., and restaurants from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
At the Mercado de Alcalde Díaz, the module section will receive customers from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the fondas area will operate from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Closures Across the City
Other municipal markets will not open that day. The markets in Pueblo Nuevo and Pacora will be closed, along with all artisan markets, including Artesanías de Balboa, Viaducto 3 de Noviembre, Salsipuedes in Santa Ana, Las Américas and El Cruce de Calidonia.
Municipal offices, sports centers and Treasury agencies at Parque Francisco Arias Paredes, Crystal Plaza, Megamall, Las Cumbres and Magna Corp. will also be closed for the holiday.
