What Happened
On March 21 the Autódromo Panamá will host the Gran Premio Panamá 2026, a landmark motorsport weekend that brings three international and regional categories to the Panamanian circuit. The program includes the opening round of the GT Challenge of the Americas, the second round of the Copa Davivienda TCR Panamá and the national Súper Turismo championship.
Organizers say the event will feature more than 50 vehicles across categories, with the GT Challenge grid alone fielding more than 20 cars. Confirmed supercars include five Lamborghinis, four Porsches, one limited-edition McLaren (one of 15 units worldwide) and a latest-generation Mercedes-AMG. The event pairs on-track competition with a major live-entertainment line-up.
Event Details and Participants
The Gran Premio Panamá brings a mix of local and international talent. Panamanian driver Pedro Tuñón will represent the host nation in Súper Turismo. In GT Challenge, Franklyn Boodram competes with the Speedway Team alongside his son Zachary and Ricardo Vera from Puerto Rico, who arrives with international wins and a Daytona 24 Hours podium to his name. In TCR Panamá, California native Logan Frost is listed among international entrants attracted by the category’s competitiveness.
Franklyn Boodram praised the Autódromo team: “El equipo del Autódromo Panamá te hace sentir en casa. Eso no tiene precio en este deporte.”
Spectator Experience
The circuit has been adapted to meet international competition standards. Spectators in the Curva 1 area can reportedly see approximately 90% of the track. The event offers an exclusive Pit Party for Lounge zones 1–3 and Curva 6, with optional passes for other areas and access for Curva 1 ticket holders. The on-site program includes live DJs, photo sessions with drivers and a concert closing the event.
The Grid Kids program will bring 25 children involved in karting to the track for pit access, a Grid Walk carrying drivers’ flags, a special conversation with guests and opportunities to interact with teams.
Partners, Culture and Tourism Impact
Autocentro is the presenting sponsor, with Interstate joining as a performance-aligned partner. The Panama Tourism Authority has supported the event, highlighting its potential to attract international visitors and to help diversify the country’s sports tourism offerings.
