IMA Agroferias to Reach Multiple Provinces on April 27 and 28

What Happened

The Institute of Agricultural Marketing (IMA) will hold Agroferias across several provinces and comarcas on Monday, April 27, and Tuesday, April 28, starting at 8:00 a.m. Consumers must present their identity card to buy products at the fairs.

The Agroferias offer basic food items at affordable prices, including rice, legumes, pasta, oil, salt, bread, sugar, grains, vegetables, eggs, tortillas, chicken, plantains, meat products, apples, and assorted fruits.

Locations for Monday, April 27

On Monday, the fair will take place in Herrera at the El Barrero community board in Pesé district.

Locations for Tuesday, April 28

On Tuesday, sales points will open in multiple areas of the country. In Panama East, the fair will be held in Río Nazareno, Chinina, in Chepo district. In the Ngäbe Buglé Comarca, the location will be the Dos Bocas community in Jirondai district.

Other Tuesday locations include the Tres Hermanas community house in Cirí de Los Sotos, Capira district, in Panama Oeste; the Nuevo San Carlitos sports court in San Carlos corregimiento, David district, in Chiriquí; and the Cabuya sports court in Antón district, Coclé.

In Herrera, the fair will be at Herrera Park in San Juan Bautista, Chitré. In Veraguas, Agroferias will be held at the Llano de la Cruz community house in Urracá, Santiago district, and at the El Marañón community house in Soná district. In Los Santos, the sales point will be beside the Corozal school in Macaracas district. In Darién, the fair will be at the Platanilla community board in Río Congo, Santa Fe district. In the capital district, the location will be Santa Rita school in Ernesto Córdoba Campos corregimiento.

Why It Matters

Agroferias have become a regular way for households to access staple foods at lower prices, especially in communities far from major commercial centers. By bringing sales points to different provinces and districts, the program helps connect local consumers with essential goods in a direct and organized setting.

For families managing food expenses, the identity card requirement and the fixed schedule make the process more predictable. The nationwide distribution of locations also shows the reach of the program, spanning urban, rural, and indigenous areas in the same two-day window.
