What Happened
Metro de Panamá S.A. has announced its operating schedule for the Easter 2026 holiday period, adjusting service hours to handle the increase in passenger movement across Panama City. The plan includes an extended timetable on Thursday, April 2, one of the busiest days of the season for trips to transport terminals and other parts of the city.
According to the schedule, the system will run from 5:00 a.m. to midnight on Thursday, April 2. On Friday, April 3, service will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, will have service from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 5, will run from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Passenger Guidance
Metro de Panamá is urging riders to reload their cards ahead of time to avoid delays during the holiday rush. The company also asked passengers to follow staff instructions at stations expected to see heavy traffic, including Albrook and San Miguelito.
Those stations are among the most important transfer points in the capital, especially during holiday periods when many travelers move between the city center, bus terminals, and routes heading to the interior of the country.
Why It Matters
Holiday scheduling is a key part of managing demand on Panama City’s mass transit network, particularly during periods when many residents leave the capital or travel for religious and family gatherings. Longer hours on Thursday are meant to ease pressure on the system and keep passenger flow moving more smoothly.
The Metro of Panama has become a central part of urban mobility in the capital, and changes to its holiday service can affect not only daily commuters but also travelers connecting to other transportation services. Planning ahead, especially by topping up fare cards before arriving at a station, helps reduce congestion at entry points during peak periods.
