The Municipality of Panama has invited residents to a series of family-oriented activities taking place across the capital this weekend, including multisport competitions, an international triathlon, a Caribbean food festival and visits to the Summit Botanical Garden.
Events This Weekend
On Sunday, March 22, the Camino del Guerrero will run from 9:00 a.m. at the Roberto Kelly Sports Complex. The municipality says the event will feature six continuous hours of multidisciplinary competition where athletes will test themselves in karate, muay thai, Olympic wrestling, boxing, kickboxing and Brazilian jiu-jitsu, including contact and fight categories.
Also on Sunday, March 22 the Ironman 70.3 takes place at the Cinta Costera. The Municipality highlights local competitors Abel Pino, Rubiel Pino, Luis Alvarado, David Bejarano, Noriel Mendoza and Jorge Acosta, who will represent the Alcaldía de Panamá in swimming, cycling and running. The Ironman is an international event that brings together more than 1,500 athletes from 50 countries. The municipality noted that the city s Recreovía will be suspended for the event and asked residents to support the city s athletes.
From 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Saus Fest and Food will take place at Mi Pueblito Afroantillado. The festival offers a selection of Caribbean dishes including pickled pig s trotters prepared by 40 sauseros, rice with coconut, patty empanadas, plantitá and escabeche (pickled fish), among other tastings. Organizers say the day will include Afro rhythms, live Afro music, DJs, a fashion runway and artisan bazaars.
Summit Botanical Garden Information
The Jardín Botánico Summit is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and functions as an environmental and recreational center with trails and plant collections such as bamboos, palms, exotic trees and native species. The garden includes fauna observatories for puma, harpy eagle, ocelots, capybaras, sloths, anteaters, monkeys and birds, plus picnic areas, playgrounds and gazebo rentals. Visitors are asked to pay via Yappy or by Visa, Clave or MasterCard through the municipality s payment gateway at https://pasarela.mupa.gob.pa/.
Entrance fees are listed as follows: Panamanians B/.2.00, retirees and students B/.1.00, foreigners B/.5.00 and children under five enter free.
