Mayor Mizrachi Delivers Two Bridges and Two Parks to Las Mañanitas Neighborhoods

What Happened

Residents of the Génesis and El Nazareno sectors in Las Mañanitas, Panama Este, received two newly completed bridges and two parks in an inauguration led by Panama City mayor Mayer Mizrachi. The works include a vehicular bridge and a children’s park in Génesis, and a pedestrian bridge that was expanded into a recreational park in El Nazareno.

The municipal government says the projects responded to urgent safety and accessibility needs reported by neighbors: a deteriorating metal structure in Génesis that risked collapse, and a washed-out quebrada crossing in El Nazareno that became impassable during heavy rains.

Background

Local resident Luis Gómez told officials the community had waited six years for support after noting the failing structure in Génesis. In November 2025, the municipality’s Servicios Comunitarios team evaluated the area and began works together with neighborhood residents. During construction, municipal staff identified additional needs and added a pedestrian crossing and a playground to give residents safer circulation and public space.

In El Nazareno, reports about dangerous crossings during the rainy season led the mayor’s office to expand the original pedestrian bridge plan into a larger recreational area to promote safety and community activities.

Project Details and Cost

The Alcaldía de Panamá reports an investment of B/.24,031.20 for materials used across the four projects. The works were delivered as a coordinated effort between the municipal administration, the local Junta Comunal and inhabitants of Génesis and El Nazareno.

What This Means

Mayor Mizrachi framed the deliveries as part of a broader municipal priority to improve residents’ quality of life. He said, “Nuestro esfuerzo y voluntad hacia estas comunidades siempre será mejorar la calidad de vida, garantizar la seguridad y fomentar espacios de recreación y convivencia que contribuyan al bienestar y desarrollo de la comunidad.” The new bridges and parks aim to reduce safety risks during rainy seasons, increase accessibility for pedestrians and vehicles, and provide public spaces for recreation and neighborhood gatherings.

Residents and local leaders marked the handover as a notable local achievement, emphasizing the role of community reports and municipal coordination in addressing long-standing infrastructure needs in Las Mañanitas.
