Panama Canal Opens New Job Portal With More Than 20 Technical and Professional Vacancies

What Happened

The Panama Canal Authority has launched a new employment portal, empleos.pancanal.com, designed to make it easier for applicants to review openings, check requirements and track the status of their applications in real time. The platform was presented on Thursday, February 26, as part of the authority’s broader workforce strategy.

Rubén Pérez, vice president of Human Capital at the Canal, said the initiative is tied to the organization’s Strategic Vision 2025-2035 and is intended to improve the agency’s ability to attract and select qualified talent for different roles.

Open Positions Across Key Areas

With the launch, the Panama Canal is keeping more than 20 positions open in technical, administrative, engineering and technology fields. Among the vacancies listed are roles in maritime cargo management, process analysis, interdisciplinary engineering, civil engineering, project administration, financial project analysis and software and systems analysis.

The openings also include positions focused on environmental protection, occupational safety and industrial hygiene, along with technical jobs such as civil engineering support, physical sciences, iron structure work, carpentry, office assistance and recreational support. The Canal is also offering student assistant positions in administrative and artisanal areas in both the Atlantic and Pacific sectors.

How the New System Works

The new platform brings together the full recruitment process in one place, from vacancy publication and requirements review to candidate evaluation, selection, hiring and induction. It also allows users to verify eligibility and monitor each step of the process through traceable procedures.

For a major public employer like the Panama Canal, a centralized hiring system can help streamline recruitment and improve transparency for applicants. It also reflects the Canal’s continued investment in specialized personnel needed to support operations that depend on engineering, logistics, environmental management and technology.

Support for Applicants

To help users navigate the new portal, the authority has opened a service center at Building 726 in Balboa. The center will provide guidance on how to use the platform for the next two months, operating Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The launch comes at a time when the Panama Canal continues to emphasize modernization and talent recruitment as part of its long-term planning. By combining online access with in-person assistance, the new system aims to make the application process more accessible for professionals, technicians and students interested in working for one of Panama’s most important institutions.
