# Panama City Hall Calls Public Hearing on San Francisco Park Projects

## What Happened

The Panama City Mayor’s Office has called a public hearing for Tuesday, April 28 at 6:00 p.m. at Parque Rosendo Jurado in Villa Lilla, in the San Francisco corregimiento. The meeting is open to residents and will focus on several community projects planned for the area.

Among the initiatives to be presented are a new recreational park in Villa Lilla, another recreational park in the Loma Alegre neighborhood on Calle Las Campanillas, and the remodeling of the park on Calle 59 in San Francisco Centro.

## Why the Hearing Matters

Public hearings are an important part of local participation in Panama City, especially when municipal works affect neighborhoods directly. They give residents a chance to learn how projects are being planned and to follow the use of municipal investment funds in their communities.

The city’s Directorate of Citizen Participation and Transparency is coordinating the meeting, underscoring the municipal focus on community engagement and oversight. The session will also include an explanation of projects tied to the Municipal Public Works and Services Investment Program, known as PIOPSM.

## Local Impact

Recreational parks and upgraded public spaces can play a major role in daily life in urban neighborhoods such as San Francisco. For residents, these projects may mean more places for family recreation, neighborhood gatherings, and neighborhood improvement efforts.

By presenting the plans in an open forum, the municipality is setting the stage for residents to review proposals that could affect how public space is used and maintained in these parts of the district.

## Background

San Francisco is one of Panama City’s most active urban corregimientos, with a mix of residential areas, businesses, and public spaces. Municipal works there often draw attention because of their direct impact on traffic, neighborhood services, and quality of life.

The hearing in Villa Lilla is part of that broader process of municipal planning, where local authorities outline projects before moving forward with public investment and neighborhood improvements.
