# IMA Announces April 29 Agroferias Across Panama

## What Happened

The Institute of Agricultural Marketing has scheduled agroferias for Wednesday, April 29, at multiple locations across Panama. The sales days will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will operate in several provinces and indigenous comarcas.

The market days are designed to bring food and other agricultural products closer to communities in different parts of the country, including urban neighborhoods, rural districts, and hard-to-reach areas.

## Where the Agroferias Will Be Held

In Darién, the event will take place in the community of Río Bonito, in Río Congo Arriba, district of Santa Fe. In Panama province, the location will be the grounds of Santa Teresita Church on Avenida México in Calidonia.

Panama Oeste will host an agroferia at the community hall of Cirí Grande in Capira, while Chiriquí’s venue will be the public court in Santo Domingo, district of Bugaba. In Herrera, residents can attend the event at the Sabana Grande community court in Pesé.

Veraguas has two locations: the Junta Comunal of Pixvae in Las Palmas and Casa Local de Guías Arriba in Calobre. In Panama Este, the agroferia will serve Pigandí and Palmas Bellas in Tortí, district of Chepo. Coclé’s location is Casa Local de Barreto in El Palmar, district of Olá. In the Ngäbe Buglé comarca, the event will be held in the community of Buena Vista, district of Jirondai.

## What Buyers Should Bring

The IMA asked people attending the agroferias to bring their personal identification card and reusable bags. Those items help speed up purchases and reduce the use of disposable packaging.

Agroferias have become a familiar part of Panama’s consumer landscape because they connect producers with buyers in one-day sales events. For households looking to stretch their budgets, the gatherings often offer a practical way to access agricultural goods directly in their communities.

## Why It Matters

By spreading the events across several provinces and comarcas on the same day, the IMA is making it easier for families outside major commercial centers to buy fresh products without traveling far. The schedule also reflects the agency’s ongoing role in organizing direct-to-consumer sales as part of Panama’s food distribution network.
