# Copa Talento Colegial opens with goals, shutouts and big wins across Panama schools

## What Happened

Copa Talento Colegial began a lively first week at Eagles Stadium of El Colegio de Panamá, with matches in the Sub-8, Sub-12 and Sub-16 categories played over the weekend. The opening stretch featured high-scoring wins, tight defensive battles and several standout individual performances across Panama’s school football scene.

In Sub-8 action, Spartans of Colegio La Salle set the tone with a 4-0 win over Colegio San Agustín, while the Fighting Owls of Academia Interamericana followed with a 6-1 rout of the Jaguars of Metropolitan School. The Instituto Justo Arosemena also earned a clear 4-1 victory over the Mustangs of Panamerican School.

The Sub-8 slate continued with the Hawks of Magen David Academy edging the Eagles of El Colegio de Panamá 2-1, the Lions of Colegio Real defeating the Grizzlies of United School of Panama by a single goal, and the Dolphins of ISP closing the day with a 4-1 win over the Titans of Instituto Alberto Einstein.

## Sub-12 Girls and Boys Deliver Mixed Results

Sub-12 girls produced a combination of clean sheets and narrow finishes. Colegio San Agustín beat the Lions of Colegio Real 2-0, the Fighting Owls topped the Mustangs 1-0, and the Águilas of Colegio Javier delivered the widest margin of the category with a 4-0 victory over the Brader Raiders.

Elsewhere in the girls’ bracket, the Dolphins of ISP defeated the Hawks of Magen David Academy 2-0, the Legends of Academia Hebrea beat the Eagles of El Colegio de Panamá 2-0, and the Titans of Instituto Alberto Einstein pulled out a 2-1 win over the Spartans of Colegio La Salle.

In Sub-12 boys, the Jaguars of MET and the Spartans of La Salle played to a scoreless draw, while the Dolphins of ISP edged IPA 1-0. The Legends of Academia Hebrea added another emphatic result with a 4-0 win over the Thunders of Atenea, and the Titans of Einstein rolled to a 6-0 victory over the Wolves of Pureza de María. The Fighting Owls also posted a strong 5-2 win over IJA, and the Colegio Episcopal de Panamá and The Oxford School finished level at 2-2.

## Sub-16 Keeps the Pace

The older age groups continued the competitive start. In Sub-16 girls, the Spartans of La Salle beat the Thunders of Atenea 1-0, the Fighting Owls defeated the Mustangs 1-0, and the Instituto Enrico Fermi earned a 2-1 result against ISP.

Sub-16 boys brought more balanced contests, including a 3-0 win for the Lions of Colegio Real over Kings College School and a 4-0 victory for the Jaguars of MET against Instituto Fermín Naudeau. The Instituto Rubiano and Colegio Episcopal San Cristóbal drew 2-2, the Colegio Bilingüe de Panamá and Instituto Justo Arosemena finished 0-0, and the Hawks of Magen David Academy tied the Eagles of El Colegio de Panamá 0-0. Brader Raiders then beat the Dolphins of the International School of Panama 1-0, before the Legends of Academia Hebrea capped the weekend with a 6-2 win over the Mustangs of Panamerican School.

## Why It Matters

The opening week showed the depth of school football talent competing in Panama, with several programs already establishing themselves through both strong attacking numbers and disciplined defending. Early wins can shape confidence and momentum as the tournament continues, especially in the younger categories where development and consistency often matter as much as the result itself.

With Sub-8, Sub-12 and Sub-16 matches all producing decisive performances, the tournament has already delivered one of the most active starts of the school sports calendar. The mix of blowouts, close finishes and scoreless draws points to a competitive field across Panama’s school networks.
