# Cobre Panamá showcases mining tech and sustainability at Azuero fair

## What Happened

Cobre Panamá is taking part for the second consecutive year in the LXII Feria Internacional de Azuero 2026, which runs from April 23 to May 3 and brings together thousands of visitors in one of Panama’s best-known national events. The company is using its stand to present modern mining through technology, interaction, and hands-on explanation.

At the fair, visitors can explore how a contemporary mining operation works and learn about efforts aimed at making it more efficient and sustainable. The display is designed to turn complex industrial processes into an accessible experience for families, students, and fairgoers.

## Technology at the Center of the Exhibit

One of the main features is an explanation of the trolley system, which allows electric trucks to operate connected to a power line instead of relying on traditional methods. The setup is presented as a way to reduce emissions and improve efficiency in mining operations.

The stand also includes a bicycle experience that generates energy through pedaling. The activity is meant to show, in a simple and interactive way, how energy can be transformed into movement and how the trolley system functions inside a mining operation.

Maru Gálvez, public relations manager at Cobre Panamá, said the experience is intended to help people understand technology by living it firsthand. She said seeing personal effort converted into energy changes the way people understand mining’s evolution.

## Connecting Mining With Daily Life

During the fair, visitors can speak with Panamanian professionals, ask questions of the AI avatar CoCo, and learn about responsible mining and the role copper plays in everyday life. The exhibit places mineral production in a broader public conversation, linking industry, innovation, and the country’s economic development.

The Feria Internacional de Azuero is one of Panama’s most important cultural gatherings, blending tradition, commerce, and community. Cobre Panamá’s presence adds an industrial and educational layer to that mix, offering a public-facing view of a sector that has been central to national debate and economic discussion.

## Why It Matters

By bringing interactive technology to a major regional fair, Cobre Panamá is seeking to make mining more understandable to the public. The stand highlights the company’s emphasis on efficiency, cleaner operations, and direct engagement with Panamanians in a setting that draws broad national attention.

As the fair continues through May 3, the exhibit serves as a meeting point between tradition and development, showing how Panama’s industrial projects are increasingly presented through education and digital tools rather than technical language alone.
