# Alibaba and Baidu Raise Cloud Prices up to 34% as AI Demand Drives Costs

China’s two largest cloud providers, Alibaba Group’s cloud unit and Baidu, said this week they will raise prices for certain cloud services by as much as 34 percent as demand for artificial intelligence and infrastructure costs rise.

Alibaba Cloud announced that starting April 18 it will increase prices for services running on its AI chips by between 5 and 34 percent. The company cited services running on its T-Head Zhengwu 810E chip — unveiled in late January — as among those affected, according to a company statement released on Wednesday.

Baidu’s cloud unit also said it is raising prices for select services by as much as 34 percent. Both moves follow similar price adjustments by major American cloud providers earlier this year as firms scale AI infrastructure.
